ABSTRACT
The article discusses the impact of automobile insurance on an individual's personal finances. Financial planners should educate themselves in property and casualty insurance to ensure that their clients aren't overpaying for unneeded coverages or being underinsured. Because insurance is often enforced by law, many individuals will remain with the same insurance company for years without examining their options. The authors suggest that it is the responsibility of financial planners to provide advice about insurance, even if it doesn't directly generate fees and commissions.
