Cablers Commit to '08 OCAP Rollout

The article reports on the commitment made by cable industry to three key consumer electronics partners to have the OpenCable Application Platform (OCAP) widely deployed in systems by the fourth quarter of 2008 in the U.S. A standard way for set-tops, televisions and other devices to access interactive cable services like video- on-demand will be provided by the OCAP specification licensed by CableLabs. Cable companies announced a commitment to roll out OCAP middleware by the end of 2007.
