ABSTRACT
This article focuses on issues related to the three of the biggest advertising agency holding companies in the world in 1999. Headlines about Interpublic Group of Cos. seemed to be limited to two types of stories. Those about lawsuits chairman and CEO Phil Geier had filed against former employees and vice versa. The biggest news out of WPP Group revolved around a new compensation package that could leave CEO Martin Sorrell $50 million richer in a few years. As for Omnicom Group, president and CEO John Wren just kept quietly going about the business of maximizing shareholder value.
