ABSTRACT
This article reports on the resignation of Pete Blackshaw as the brand manager-interactive marketing at Procter & Gamble to launch an infomediary venture he expects to go online in November 1999. Infomediaries collect consumer data and broker it to marketers in return for special deals and other offers to consumers. The business of Blackshaw is already backed by local venture fund with additional capital expected from New York investments houses. Blackshaw believes that others may be developing ventures similar to his but he also believes that no one has really done it in a way that works on both sides. He said there are a lot of consumer terrorist sites, but his venture was blending his experience when he was working on consumer-advocacy issues with a perspective gained from Procter.
