ABSTRACT
The article offers information on the performance of the Indian information technology sector in the (IT) stock market. Irrespective of collapsing global markets which accounted for 15% in the first two weeks of March 2007, Indian tech stocks did well. It is stated that MindTree Consulting Pvt. Ltd.'s share price climbed past its issue price of 425 rupees to over 600 on March 7, 2007 the day it listed. Local markets normally respond to global stock trends, but Indian investors remain as buoyant as India's booming economy. Rishi Sahai, a director at London-based research and consultancy firm Indus View Advisors, guesses that companies will raise at least $1 billion in the markets this year.
