ABSTRACT
The article presents the report from the Specialty Steel Industry of North America concerning stainless steel imports in 2006 in the U.S. The report revealed that total stainless steel imports soared 23 percent during the year while total consumption totaled 2,591,577 tons, up by 15 percent from 2005. In addition, total specialty steel imports, including stainless steel, alloy tool steel, and electrical steel, totaled 1,010,892 tons.
