ABSTRACT
The article announces the decision of United States Steel Corp. to acquire Lone Star Technologies Inc., manufacturer of welded oilfield tubular goods in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The board of both companies unanimously approved the agreement. U.S. Steel expects that the acquisition would strengthen its position as a leading producer of tubular products designed for the energy processing services. As a result of the merger, production capacity would increase to 2.8 million tons.
