ABSTRACT
This article provides information on events in the chemical industry in 1987. The acquisition battle for Unilever's Stauffer Chemical business continued to heat up and ICI was tipped as a likely winner. U.S. sources believe the deal's value has been boosted to $1.5-2 billion, against earlier estimates of around $1.2 billion. Linde AG has topped the bidding for Duffour & Igon with an offer of FF344 million, or $57 million.
