ABSTRACT
The article reports that Sasol will start building a second methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) production plant in Sasolburg, South Africa. The plant will double the company's MIBK there to almost 60,000 tonnes per year. It is due to come on stream in the first half of 2009, said Reiner Groh, group general manager at Sasol's chemical businesses division. MIBK is used as a solvent in surface coatings, adhesives and pharmaceuticals, as well as in rubber additives production.
