Polinter chooses Lupotech T for Venezuelan project

The article reports that Basell's Lupotech T technology has been selected by Polinter, an affiliate of Venezuela's state-owned petrochemicals company Pequiven, for a low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Basell said the 300,000 tonne/ year plant is scheduled to start up in 2011. Basell expects LDPE demand to rise by an average of 1.4%/ year in South America in 2004-2015, compared with 10.5% for linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and 7.1% for polyolefins in general.
