ABSTRACT
This article reports on the stretches of wall being built along the U.S.--Mexico border. Illegal immigration had been occurring on this border for decades but after the passage of NAFTA, the numbers surged dramatically engendering heated feelings on both sides of the border. But the wall is unlikely to stope illegal immigration. According to the author, the wall is a police solution to an economic problem.
