ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the effects of the new hybrid business model adopted by the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) to the roles of floor traders and specialists. The final stages for the implementation of the NYSE Hybrid Market in March 2007 aim to combine people-powered auctions with electronic trading. It claims that the transition caused several house brokers to reduce their staffs and to find trading partners that would help investors respond to opportunities quickly.
