The article discusses the potential impact of FMVSS 121, a set of stopping-distance regulations, on the truck equipment industry in the U.S. The regulations require new air-braked tractors to meet a 20-30 percent reduction in stopping distance requirement by May 2007. According to Bill Rayball, eastern area manager for Federal- Mogul Corp., both fleets and parts distributors may have inventory challenges as a result of FMVSS 121.
