The article reports on the plan of Cablevision Systems Corp. to file for an expedited appeal for the decision of a U.S. federal judge in 2007 prohibiting it from operating a network-based digital-video-recorder (DVR) service. Cablevision chief executive officer Tom Rutledge said its DVR operates similarly to any DVR on the market, allowing consumers to timeshift television programming. He added that the company strongly believes that remote-storage DVR is permissible under the copyright law.
