ABSTRACT
The article discusses Ethernet computer networking technologies. According to a report by Nemertes Research, almost half of business enterprises use a form of Ethernet service to provide data connectivity to their branch locations. The author notes that the interest in Ethernet is due to its ability to deliver high bandwidth services and the simplicity of using Ethernet for local area network extension. It is also noted that most businesses rely on data transport based on synchronous optical network/synchronous digital hierarchy framing.
