ABSTRACT
The article discusses the improvement of customer service in call centers. In the author's opinion, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) provides call centers with the ability to engage with their customers in rich communication. He notes that many companies are still leveraging automatic call distribution with vendor-specific computer telephony integration. The author suggests two options for enabling call centers with SIP: leveraging SIP in the private branch exchange telephone system infrastructure, or embedding SIP support directly into the contact center application.
