ABSTRACT
The article discusses the market for handheld computer devices. According to a study by International Data Corp. (IDC), the worldwide market for handheld devices declined in 2006. IDC classified handheld devices as "pocket-sized" devices that are able to synchronize with desktop or laptop computers, and are designed to access and manage data. IDC analyst Ramon Llamas believes that networked mobile devices are putting pressure on the market for handheld devices. The author notes that laptop computers with wireless network capabilities have also reduced demand for handheld devices.
