The article presents highlights from the annual list of the world's wealthiest people, taken by "FORBES" from 1987-2007. Real estate baron Yoshiaki Tsutsumi of Japan was the world's richest person in 1987. Nintendo creator Hiroshi Yamauchi debuts in 1990 at $2 billion. Bill Gates became the world's richest man in 1995, with $12.9 billion. In 2007, India surpasses Japan as the Asian spot with the most billionaires.
