ABSTRACT
The article discusses the Forbes.com list of billionaires around the world for 2006, based on balance sheets taken on February 9, 2007. The billionaires' combined net worth climbed by $900 billion to $3.5 trillion, equating to $3.6 billion apiece. From the list, the average billionaire is 62 years old and of list members' fortunes, 60% made theirs from scratch. Another 20% are actively building on fortunes, such as Lakshmi Mittal.
