ABSTRACT
The article reports on the risk of burnout, a state of physical and mental exhaustion to medical professionals. Chronic fatigue, weakness, and negative attitude towards themselves, others, and towards work are the syndromes of burnout. A study conducted among the academic professionals of the departments of obstetrics and gynecology in Puerto Rico and the U.S. showed that 22% of them were not satisfied with their position.
