ABSTRACT
The article reports that the reduction in the peak customs duty announced in the Budget is likely to help the Indian government check the prices of intermediates. The move was taken to bring the customs duty to Asean levels. As a result of the move, landed costs of many intermediates have reduced. Most of the producers are pricing their products slightly lower than the import parity prices.
