The article states that wideband-code division multiple access (W-CDMA) operators face a decision on which technology to use in the future. The Global Suppliers Association (GSA) claims that 145 operators in 66 countries around the world have committed to adding the high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) element to their W-CDMA networks. It is noted that W-CDMA community's evolutionary path is represented by an upgrade that is called high speed packet access (HSPA) or HSPA evolution.
