ABSTRACT
The study compares the quality of handwriting or penmanship of grade five to eight elementary public school students in 1979 and 1912 with same grade level of students who attended the second semester of 1930-1931 in El Centro, California. The author asserted that the students in 1931 write with a significant poorer penmanship quality compared with same grade level students in 1879 and 1912, assuming that the pupils in the single 1931 school situations are typical sample of public school students from grade five to eight.
