ABSTRACT
The article presents an update on the Asian chemical industry. Workers at Indian Petrochemicals Corp. started a hunger strike to protest a plan to relocate staff from the Vadodara petrochemical complex. South Korean speciality chemical firm Songwon Industrial Co. has opened a European headquarter for its affiliate Songwon International in Switzerland. A task force recommended that chemical waste from in and around a former Union Carbide plant in Bhopal should be sent for incineration.
