ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the emergence of faith-based television programs in the U.S. This trend began after the debut of the show "Highway to Heaven" at NBC in 1984. This was followed by more successful shows, such as "Touched by an Angel" and "7th Heaven." According to Barbara Hall, a Catholic and creator of the show "Joan of Arcadia," it took so long for television networks to embrace religious shows because there is hesitancy to turn religion into entertainment.
