ABSTRACT
The article reports on the settlement of a non-compete dispute between Pier 1 Imports President and Chief Executive Alex Smith and TJX Cos. in Texas in 2007. As part of the settlement, Smith will forfeit what he was owed under the incentive pay and supplemental executive retirement plans of TJX. The order from a state court stopped TJX from filing any judicial proceedings against Smith other than seeking arbitration.
