ABSTRACT
The article presents news briefs related to drug developments and sexually transmitted disease (STD). The number of cases of tuberculosis in patients with HIV can be reduced by a combination of testing, prophylaxis treatment and highly active antiretroviral therapy. A parallel allele-specific sequencing assay can help analyze large quantities of HIV viral genomes. Pregnancy outcomes can be improved in women with HIV infection by giving prophylactic treatment with co-trimoxazole.
