The article reports that the Instrumentation Systems and Automation Society (ISA)-SP88 committee developed an actual, working prototype, which they demonstrated in December 2006 to show the ISA-88 Part 5 standard, also known as Make2Pack. The standard defines the interoperability and integration of processing and packaging in a multi-vendor control environment. Controllers from B&R Automation, Mettler Toledo, Rockwell Automation and a human-machine interface system from Wonderware worked together in a simulated batch process and packaging control system.
