IEC 62264 and ISA-95: Enterprise-control system integration

Sheble, Nicholas
March 2007
InTech;Mar2007, Vol. 54 Issue 3, p62
The article discusses the efforts of a joint working group of the International Engineering Consortium (IEC) SC65A and International Organization for Standardization TC184/SC5 technical subcommittees to develop a multi-part IEC 62264 standard based on the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society-95 specifications. This multi-part standard will define within an enterprise an information exchange framework to allow the merging of business applications and manufacturing control systems. The standard carefully delineates the activity domains of the enterprise and defines and places them within a hierarchy.
