ABSTRACT
The Raymond Mander and Joe Mitchenson Theatre Collection (MMTC) is one of the largest collections of theatre and performance-related material in the UK. Kristy Davis and Sophie Nield trace the history of the collection from its earliest 'private' days to its move in 2001 to the Old Naval College in Greenwich, London, and report on the three-year cataloguing and digitization project, just completed. The problems they describe and decisions to be taken will be very familiar to readers of The Indexer, not least the major challenge: to know how users will search the catalogue, what types of information they will need, and in what format?
