ABSTRACT
The article presents the case of a full term female baby born with ectopia cordis (EC) or displacement of the heart outside the thoracic cavity. The heart of the baby had pericardial covering and coronary vessels could be seen. The heart was reposited within the thoracic cavity and skin closure was done successfully, but the baby died two hours later due to cardiac arrest. It cites the five types of EC including cervical, cervicothoracic, thoracic and abdominal.
