The article reports on the results of a survey conducted by the web site www.firefighternearmiss.com. The survey asked eight focus groups in the U.S. what information they would need about a firefighter who filed a near miss report. The focus groups felt it is critical to include the reporter's relationship to the incident by classifying involvement into the categories of 'involved,' 'witnessed, but not involved,' and 'told of event.'
