ABSTRACT
This article reports that online clothing discounter Bluefly.com has chosen advertising agency Bates USA in November 1999 to promote the retailer using radio commercials in the U.S. Bluefly begins with 60-second radio spots that use a fictional fashion reporter conducting irreverent interviews. The advertisements will run in New York City through December. Bluefly buys designer wares directly from fashion houses, then sells to consumers on its Web site. The site has limited selection and sizes, but offers discounts on clothing, housewares and gifts. It includes features, news and fashion tips, as well as a MyCatalog section where users can target chosen brands, sizes and styles.
