ABSTRACT
The article deals with the proposed Medicare budget cuts in the U.S. Health care providers are girding for a fight over proposed Medicare cuts they say are reminiscent of those enacted under the Balanced Budget Act of 1997. Overall, President George W. Bush's budget proposal seeks to trim nearly $70 billion from Medicare and Medicaid. The American Hospital Association and other hospital groups launched an advertising campaign and grassroots efforts to encourage lawmakers to oppose the cuts.
