ABSTRACT
The article discusses the author's experience of going to the Adirondack lake in New York. As he and his companions were canoeing to their campsite, they wondered how the loons they watched the previous year had fared through the winter. They saw a loons' nest at the edge of a marshy arm that extended several hundred yards into the lake. They saw evidence that nature was the culprit to the failed hatch of a loon's eggs.
