ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the power grid of the U.S. It is reported that the Western power grid of the U.S. has failed twice resulting in blackouts throughout the western regions of the country. It is noted that some parts of the grid lack the capacity to carry the energy needed and is prone to failure as it is old. It opined that coastal population centers in the West tend to get power from the power plants located in the interior parts of the country. It is expected that this trend will continue as more plants are being built in the western parts of the country. It is reported that as the power highway is becoming more congested, blackouts may become more frequent.
