Gratton, Dave
February 2007
New Zealand Tree Grower;Feb2007, Vol. 28 Issue 1, p28
The author accounts the success of his and his brother's forestry operation after being awarded the Forestry Encouragement Grant. They started planting radiata pine seedlings supplied by Maurice Murray of Woodville in 1972 and had their first harvest in 1997. Their property can be accessed through a residential street, so they try to lessen traffic congestion caused by their loaded logging trucks. He states that their winter harvest rotation better suits contractors like Ross Bawden of Bawden Associates.
