ABSTRACT
The article offers information on an industry-sponsored project related to the treatment of ramularia, a leaf-spotting disease in barley. According to researcher Simon Oxley, the seed phase is one of the most important stages of the pathogen. He suggests that using clean seed may be an effective way to reduce yield losses where there is a problem in the spring barley population. And using a seed treatment on spring- and winter-sown seed may reduce disease spread to new areas.
