ABSTRACT
The article discusses on the association of Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) alkylation and DNA methylation in the development of colorectal adenomas and adenocarcinomas. Researchers argue that several studies have implicated alterations in epigenome particularly aberrant CpG island DNA methylation as being important in cancer formation. While DNA alkylating agents are among the most consistently identified class of factors to cause DNA damage and cancer causing mutations in the colon.
