The article focuses on the decision of Indian Petrochemical Corp. to set up an equal partnership with U.S.-based trader Vinmar to produce polymethyl methacrylate at Gandhar, Gujarat in India, as reported in the March 24, 1997 issue of "ECN." The 30,000 tons per year facility should start production in 1999. The plant will use hydrocyanic acid byproduct from Indian Petrochemical's acrylonitrile facility under construction. Vinmar will provide technology for the project.
