The article presents an update on the market for acetic acid in 2007. The declining methanol contract prices could be great news for Europe's acetic acid buyers. Spot prices of the key feedstock dropped in 2007, and observers expect contracts to undergo their first decline in six months. Acetic prices rose in the fourth quarter of 2006, but did little to ease the effects of soaring natural gas and methanol costs.
