UMC to open support center in India

The article reports on the plan of Taiwan-based foundry United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC) to open a customer support office in Hyderabad Technology Park in India. The move of UMC echoes that of its rival Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd., which opened its own India-based design support office in Bangalore. UMC said the office will provide design support services for India-based customers, as well as for UMC customers who operate design centers in the area.
