ABSTRACT
The article recalls important events in the chemical industry on March 16, 1987. The European Economic Community (EEC) and the U.S. have moved towards a compromise on limiting emissions, in spite of the delay in the development of a protocol on chlorofluorocarbons. Union Carbide has decided to look for acquisitions and joint ventures, after its emergence from a retrenchment.
