ABSTRACT
The article reports on the establishment of a state-run fund in Germany that will be responsible for remediating mining damage and paying miners' pensions. The fund is a prerequisite for the stock market listing sought by RAG, parent of specialty chemicals producer Degussa. The fund would free the energy and chemicals group from paying the mining damage and miners' pensions.
