ABSTRACT
The article presents information on how to practice pranayama. Yoga teacher B. K. S. Iyengar explains how the three stages of the breath in pranayama, inhalation (puraka), retention (antara kumbhaka), and exhalation (rechaka), can connect any person to the universal soul. According to Iyengar, asana practice makes the body fit for pranayama, and pranayama practice makes the mind fit for meditation.
