ABSTRACT
The article discusses the practice of carbon offsetting by corporations. There are two kinds of offset, those sanctioned by the Kyoto protocol which allow governments and companies to earn tradeable carbon credits, and unofficial offsets, where charitable organizations charge a fee to organize offsets on a corporations' behalf. Skeptics say unofficial offsets need regulations to ensure that they are making a difference in the environment.
