This article talks about Stan Perron, former manager of Thiess Brothers, and his Toyota business in Australia. When Perron left Thiess, the company chairman gave him Toyota franchise rights as a going-away gift. Perron opened Prestige Motors in East Perth and in his first year, 1963, he sold a mix of Toyota Crowns and Toyota Tiaras for an average of $1,000 a piece. According to the author, the expectation that Toyota is to overtake General Motors as the word's largest car maker in 2007 has helped make Perron very rich.
