ABSTRACT
The article reports that the Heron unmanned aircraft system (UAS) was officially be received by the Israel Air Force (IAF) from the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). This UAS was already used by Israel in its recent war against Lebanon. According to Itzhak Nissan, president and chief executive officer of IAI, there will be more vehicles to be jointly develop by IAI and IAF. Heron can fly at altitudes of 30,000 feet, carry about 550 pounds of payload and has an endurance of more than 40 hours.
