ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the concerns of producers and refiners over the possible conversion of the methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) plants of Lyondell and Ecofuel in London, England to ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE) during the first quarter of 2007. They claim that the move could affect the supply and demand balance of Europe in the coming months. Ecofuel of Ravenna, Italy is also planning to produce ETBE out of its MTBE unit by the end of February.
