ABSTRACT
The article reports that Alexander Medvedev, deputy chairman of the management committee of Gazprom, denied rumors that Russia could be trying to create a gas cartel in Europe similar to the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. There has been a string of rumors recently that Gazprom, the Russian state-owned gas monopoly, has been discussing creating a cartel with a number of countries, including Algeria and Iran.
